A few weeks ago, most of us likely hadn’t heard of the term “self-isolation” and unless you have the luxury of being quarantined with your S.O., or you’re an introvert skilled at the art of entertaining yourself, social distancing alone can get boring, fast. As we adjust to this new, isolated (but temporary!) reality, here are some things you can do while you stay in to stay safe, healthy, and yes, sexy.

Find a New Hobby
Maybe you’ve always wanted to take up knitting, learn a new language or become a master cake decorator. Well, now is the perfect time! A recent study by the Society of Behavioral Medicine reported that hobbies have a consistent “benefit on a person’s daily health and well-being” and that “when individuals engaged in leisure, they also reported better mood, more interest, less stress, and exhibited lower heart rate than when they were not engaging in leisure activity.” Lucky for us, we can virtually learn how to do pretty much anything—and right now, so many organizations are offering free classes to boost creativity, get a workout in or start the Ivy League class you’ve always wanted to take.

Take Care
A lot of us are feeling extra anxious, overwhelmed and maybe even depressed during this pandemic, so setting aside time to take care of yourself is essential to your health—both mentally and physically. But if you’re spending all your time at home, it can be difficult to establish a daily routine, which can have a pretty big impact on your mental health. We recommend creating a schedule, where you map out your day and make it a priority to carve out time for things like self-care, taking a walk outside and phone calls with your besties. By penciling in time for yourself and activities that make you feel good, you’re keeping yourself happy and healthy.

Isolate & Masturbate
Considering Pornhub’s traffic has increased by almost 12% in the last two weeks, we’re guessing most people have already worked masturbation into their daily routines pretty seamlessly. And for good reason! Not only is masturbating amazing for your overall health, but the New York Department of Health says when it comes to Covid 19, “you are your safest sex partner.” In other words? Masturbation is basically essential in flattening that curve we keep hearing so much about. As long as you’re washing your hands and cleaning your toys before and after a solo-sesh—you’re good to love yourself all quarantine long.

You Sexty Thing
The New York Department of Health is pretty clear that unless you’re self-quarantined with your sex-partner, you should avoid having sex with others. So, if you and your partner have chosen to isolate separately or you’re single and it’s been awhile since your last Tinder date, you might be feeling a little (or a lot) sexually frustrated. But just because you can’t have in-person sex, doesn’t mean you don’t have options! Now is the perfect time to brush up on those sexting skills, master the art of a sexy photo or go on virtual dates with your online suitors.

Clean Your Toys
We already know spring cleaning is at the top of your to-do list but what about your toy collection? If you’re participating in the isolate and masturbate portion of this list (let’s face it—we already know you are!), then you definitely want to make sure you’re keeping your toys clean and in tip top shape. Ever heard of out with old and in with the new? This also might a good time to get rid of that bullet vibe from 2005 and update the contents of your nightstand with some new technology.

It’s (Virtual) Party Time!
Just because you’re in isolation doesn’t mean you have to be isolated. Thanks to FaceTime, Skype, Zoom, Facebook live, etc., connecting with your friends and family has never been easier, or more fun! Round up the coworkers for a virtual happy hour, organize Sunday dinner with your family, or our personal favorite— get your besties together for a virtual Pure Romance party! Not only do you get to support your Partner, but you get to reconnect with your girlfriends and stock up on some necessary self-care items—all from the comfort of your couch.

Things Not to Do:

Text Your Ex
We don’t know who needs to hear this, but don’t text your ex. Sure, you don’t have to listen to us on this one, but we’ve provided you with an ample list of things to do that will only benefit you in the long run. Texting your ex isn’t one of those things.

Hoard Toilet Paper
Please don’t do this. There’s enough toilet paper for everyone, we promise.

Panic
In all seriousness, we know that self-isolating can be difficult and, well, isolating—but there is no reason to panic! If you’re feeling down or anxious—reach out to your friends and family. Journal. Stay connected to what makes you feel grounded. We know times like this aren’t easy by any means, but let’s look at the positives: we get to spend time focusing on ourselves, our health and when it’s all said and done—if we can make it through this, we can make it through anything!
