In the winter months, it can be tempting to just cuddle up and not leave the house. We know the feeling! But if you want to stay in while also having a unique, fun date night, we have some ideas. So light a fire and go get your loved one for an amazing night in.

Cook a meal together

A home-cooked meal is always a winner when it comes to date night. Not only is it a delicious way to spend an evening, but it’s also a great opportunity to bond with your partner. After all, there’s nothing like a little teamwork to bring a couple closer together. Plus, cooking together gives you a chance to show off your culinary skills (or lack thereof). Whether you’re whipping up a gourmet feast or burning the grilled cheese, you’re sure to have a good time. Looking for some inspiration? Incorporate some of these aphrodisiac foods.

Play a game

Love is a game, they say. You’ll have plenty of fun options if you want to have a game night with your partner. Pick out your favorite board game from your childhood. Get creative and make a scavenger hunt that ends in the bedroom. Get hot and heavy with a date night card game that will get you asking steamy questions. Up the stakes by having the loser give the winner a massage at the end of the night. There’s nothing like healthy competition to spice up a date.

Turn your home into a spa

Relax and unwind with your partner… and save some money while you’re at it! Set the mood with some candles, turn on some relaxing music, and scatter rose petals on your bed. You determine the schedule. Start by taking turns giving massages with coconut massage oil made to ignite feelings of passion. If your hands tire easily or if you’re looking for a more penetrating massage, add a vibrating massager. Clean off with a warm, bubble bath with your favorite scent so you can add some aromatherapy to the night.

Try a “yes or no” date

Is one partner more likely to plan date night than the other? Are you always indecisive about what you want to do? Give one partner the reins for the night and ask them what they would like to do in yes or no questions like:

  • Do you want to watch a movie?
  • Do you want to order in our favorite Chinese food?
  • Do you want to try a new toy in the bedroom?

This will take off some of the pressure of planning the night and give someone who may not be used to calling the shots some control.

Have a dance party

There’s nothing more romantic than dancing with your partner. Why do you think they add sultry dance numbers in romance movies? Reignite the spark by throwing your own dance party. Move the furniture and turn down the lights to create your own club. Then pick the perfect sexy playlist to set the mood. If you’re feeling extra playful, you can even add some props – like scarves or glow sticks – to really get things moving. Whether you’re in the groove or just laughing at each other’s moves, an at-home dance party will be a memorable night.

Make at-home cocktails

Become a mixologist for the night and make cocktails with your partner. Start with something simple and then work your way up to a masterpiece. This is also a great situation to try out roleplay. Have one person pretend to be a bartender and the act like the flirty customer. If you’re looking for inspiration, we have cocktail recipes and the perfect toy that goes with them in this blog. Once you’ve got the basics down, the sky’s the limit when it comes to creative concoctions.

Have an indoor picnic

It may be cold outside, but you can control the temperature in your living room. Turn everyday space into a romantic picnic getaway! Lay down a nice blanket, get out a charcuterie board with your favorite meat, cheese, and fruit, and enjoy each other’s company. Make the room look like a night sky by putting up some twinkly lights and turning down the overhead lights. You can also add to the ambience with some like music or nature sounds. Turn off the phones and TV and get a little one-on-one time without leaving the comfort of home!

Watch a movie

A movie theater can be great for first dates. But if you’re looking to avoid the hassle of paying for tickets and buying overpriced snacks, make your home a theater. There’s a reason “Netflix and chill” became such a trend. Make sure you have all the movie staples: popcorn, drinks, and chocolate to keep you fed throughout the movie. As for what movie to watch, we have you covered with a list of romantic movies that are sure to entertain you.

Turn your home into a winter wonderland

If you love the snow but don’t want to deal with the cold, bring the holiday magic inside! You and your partner can decorate together. Make snowflakes out of paper, string up the lights, and break out the wreaths and garlands. Now is the perfect time to turn on some holiday music and belt out some Mariah Carey. Once you’re done decorating, head to the kitchen and make your favorite Christmas cookies. Then, at the end of the night, relax and warm up in front of the fire while using heated massagers.

If you’re ready to hibernate this winter, these date ideas will keep you within your comfort zone while also keeping romance alive. So, stay in and have fun!
