For many couples who are trying to conceive, getting pregnant is as simple as, well, having sex. All it takes is one raised eyebrow from across the room, and suddenly you’re driving to soccer practice, signing permission slips, and filling out cookie order forms.

But for some, conceiving is a challenge that can be both emotionally draining and relationship straining. You can feel like the world is against you, your own body is failing you, and the passionate fun of sex has slowly become work.

Well, at Pure Romance, we know a thing or two about enhancing activities in the bedroom.

Introducing Conceptria

Introducing Conceptria, our specially formulated, fertility-friendly lubricant.

Whether you’re just beginning your conception journey or starting to feel like it’s not as easy as you originally thought, a fertility-friendly lubricant like Conceptria is a great first step to help “set the stage” for conception.

Before we dive in, Conceptria won’t be the ultimate answer for every couple. It’s a great way to stack the deck in your favor if you’re starting to feel the strain of trying. If you and your partner have been trying for a year or more without success, it’s probably time to talk to your doctor (and his!) as there’s a chance it’s more than just bad timing affecting your chances to conceive. Just know that you aren’t alone. In fact, one in five women in the U.S. experience infertility struggles, according to the CDC

Ok, now let’s talk about how and why Conceptria may just be what you and your partner are looking for.

Why A Fertility-Friendly Lubricant?

Most everyday lubricants just weren’t considered for conception when they were created. The goal was just to lubricate. Thoughts of how said lubes might affect eggs and sperm weren’t really front of mind as the majority of people who have sex aren’t necessarily looking for it to result in anything other than a fun evening.

For example, while most traditional lubricants nowadays don’t contain a spermicide (a contraceptive substance designed to kill sperm), these lubes still aren’t necessarily making things easier on them. Many lubricants might be well balanced for vaginal pH, but are still too acidic for sperm. And some lubricants are too thick, negatively affecting sperm motility, and not allowing them to move freely to reach the egg.

As science and understanding have evolved over the past several decades, as sex toys have become more mainstream, and lubricants have grown to be more accepted as “everyone” products, the needs of lube buyers have grown as well.

Why Conceptria?

Conceptria is a water-based lubricant designed to mimic and enhance the natural fluids of both partners.

For example, while many lubricants are pH balanced to fit the vaginal environment, pH levels change during ovulation in order to better accommodate sperm. Conceptria is formulated to match these altered levels in order to work with sperm rather than against them.

In a similar vein, this lube has low osmolality (oz-mall-ality). Osmolality is all about the balance of molecules, in this case, within the vagina. If something foreign (such as a lubricant/semen) enters the vagina and throws off that molecular balance, the tissues in the area begin working overtime to rebalance. Not exactly the best environment to conceive! Conceptria is designed to not upset that balance while still providing proper lubrication.

Mimicking what’s going on with you makes sense, but what about him? Well, if you’re familiar with lubricants (and warnings about them), one ingredient included in Conceptria that might make you look twice is actually a very important one: fructose.

Conception-Focused Ingredients

Sugars in lubricants are often warned against because they can cause yeast infections. Fructose, on the other hand, is a substance that occurs naturally in sperm. Fructose provides sperm with nourishment and helps give them the energy they need to reach their goal. The fructose included in Conceptria helps enhance that natural energy found in seminal fluids and gives those little swimmers that extra little boost.

Perhaps most importantly: Conceptria is FDA cleared. That means it has been tested to ensure safety for sperm, eggs, and embryos. It also guarantees its pH and viscosity levels are similar to that of fertile fluids like cervical mucus and semen.

But it’s not just about what Conceptria includes, it’s also about what it doesn’t: Dyes, flavors, glycerin, and parabens. Everyone loves something fun and flavored every now and then, but we wanted to make sure there was nothing that might interfere with the goal of conception. Conceptria is made with clean ingredients. Nothing more – and nothing less than you’d expect.
