Maybe an episode or two of a certain sex room building series on Netflix sparked something. Maybe you’ve been browsing our blogs. Wherever your curiosities began, you find yourself entertaining more bondage behind closed doors (literally). Now that you’re expanding your kink experience, you came to the right place to learn more. We’re unpacking all things OMG-worthy on our under-the-bed restraint system!

Bed, Bondage & Beyond

What is it?

An adjustable wrist and ankle restraint system that slides under a mattress or wraps around a door for all your bondage-flavored fantasies. We call it a “system” since the cuffs are connected by long straps to make this must-have easier to use and/or to stash away from overly modest houseguests…

Pro Tip: Check underneath your bed before asking friends to help with that big move across town to prevent any unexpected surprises.

Who should try it? / Why try it?

Anyone! A restraint system like ours goes horizontal, vertical, and any which way. That means that if you have low mobility, play with plus size partners, or otherwise want versatility with your bondage experience, you got it.

If you need a few extra reasons to pop Bed, Bondage & Beyond into your cart, think about…

  • Mobility Options – If you have joints that just don’t like movement, are recovering from injuries, or if your partner uses a wheelchair, this system adapts to your needs – because everyone deserves pleasure!
  • Plus Play! – Let’s not tiptoe around it, being plus-size can require modifications with poses for comfort and that’s okay! You and/or a partner can be all tied up in bed and spread out for easy access.
  • Away Games – Lightweight and soft enough to cram in a carry-on? Absolutely.

But why would anyone want to be bound? There’s a lot of reasons people love it.

Maybe you work a demanding job with lots of responsibility. Being tied up means you don’t have to call the shots at all and that can be pretty freeing.

Maybe you’re too in your own head trying to make the perfect moves during sex or, on the flipside, you’re just shy. Tying your partner up can eliminate that mental obstacle and empower you to really ramp things up! It works on the flipside too. Being tied up (consensually, of course!) can curb any habits of covering up or shying away. Then, your partner can show you just how much they love every part of you, head to toe.

Maybe it’s just simple, you’re into bondage as a kink or aesthetic.

Whatever the reason this ever-popular BDSM element draws your attention, know that you’re in good company. Times have changed and people are more sexually adventurous than ever!

Where to try it?

Pretty much anywhere you like! Home, a local dungeon or pleasure space, or a getaway for two. Whatever scene gets you going, try it.

How?

There’s no real wrong way to do it but here’s a quick how-to.

  1. Extend the straps connected to wrist and ankle cuffs as far as they’ll go.
  2. Have a partner lift the mattress.
  3. Slide the center strap of the system under the center of your bed.
  4. Drop the mattress and pull the straps over the sides of the bed.
  5. Have the partner that will be restrained lie down. Either restrain the ankles, wrists, or both.
  6. Adjust the straps as needed.

Note: you can position the straps at the sides of the bed or the head and foot of the bed for different poses and types of play.

You can also set up Bed, Bondage & Beyond using a door. For the breakdown on that, read on for our positions below!

Comin’ in Hot

Make a massage truly intimate. This slow-burn position starts with a bound partner on their stomach and the other straddling their thighs. Start off with a massage to set the mood in more ways than one. Most of us struggle with being in the moment and taking time for intimacy and relaxation goes a long way.

Let hands wander as the two of you move into sexier headspaces. The partner on top can penetrate the other from behind or, if vibes are where the mood’s at, tease with a wand or lay-on style vibrator to really stoke that fire.

Lay it on Me

Like that first position, this next one also requires wrist and ankle cuffs at the end and foot of the bed. The idea is teasing to please! Once your partner is bound and lying back, tease their favorite spots with hands or a wand.

Bounding the legs together can add an interesting kind of pressure and/or awareness of one’s lower body when teased and lends easily to what’s known as orgasm control, or edging.. How long will they last before giving in to pleasure? There’s only one way to find out…

Cross Examination

One of our Consultants posed this question when discussing BDSM: “Curious about a Saint Andrew’s Cross after watching ‘How to Build a Sex Room’ but aren’t quite ready for the commitment? Try Bed, Bondage & Beyond on a door.”

We love it so, we just had to share this ultra-sexy position.

Shut the center strap outside the door, shorten the other straps, and use the cuffs as wrist and ankle restraints. The restrained partner can face forward or away from the door, whatever view is more of a turn-on. The unrestrained partner gives every sexy inch a thorough onceover… How? Using toys, items with prominent texture, or even just hands and sensitive spots.

Not sure about which side of the door? We’ll borrow from our Sexy Spreader blog for must-know info. The center strap should go on the outside of the door – that’s the side that shows hinges when closed.

If you toss the center strap over the door, close it, and don’t see hinges, you’re good to go! If your door opens in (shows hinges when closed) and you still want to try this, proceed with caution. Locking the door can help secure it but may not prevent it from opening during play if the restrained partner tugs too hard.
